Haver & Boecker Collects 15 Tons of Plastic Trimmings for Recycling

Haver & Boecker OHG has successfully collected 15 tons of plastic packaging waste through a new recycling initiative. The campaign aimed to demonstrate that film packaging materials can be effectively returned to the recycling process.

The collected waste, primarily plastic trimmings from the company's own test runs, was sent to long-term partner Berry Global. At their Steinfeld plant, the material was processed for the production of new PE bags. This initiative is part of Haver & Boecker's efforts to enhance the recyclability of plastic packaging and raise awareness of its value as a recycled material.

The company highlights that the PE bags used with their ADAMS® technology offer specific advantages for recycling. These bags are made from mono-material, are easily emptied of residues, and are therefore well-suited for material recycling, avoiding the complexities associated with composite materials.

Haver & Boecker notes that approximately one-third of end-users dispose of waste correctly, one-third can be motivated to do so, and one-third is harder to reach. Through campaigns like this, the company seeks to showcase the potential of these materials and encourage more efficient recycling practices.

The campaign's success underscores that plastic packaging waste can be a valuable resource when properly directed back into the production cycle. Haver & Boecker continues its work to develop sustainable packaging solutions and improve its recycling processes.
