Haver & Boecker develops intelligent bag scanner
Haver & Boecker OHG has developed a new bag scanner to identify and document errors in packing lines. The first implementation took place at a Croatian cement plant.

German manufacturer Haver & Boecker OHG has developed the concept of the "intelligent bag", centered around a new bag scanner. The device is designed to identify and document errors in packing lines in real-time, aiming to reduce rejection rates, minimize wasted resources, and improve production efficiency.
The first bag scanner was implemented at the Croatian cement plant NEXE d.d., the country's second-largest cement producer. NEXE d.d. had previously upgraded its production line by acquiring a 16-nozzle ROTO-PACKER® RVT SEAL Edition packing machine and an automatic RADIMAT® bag placer in 2018.
Haver & Boecker states that NEXE d.d. had faced challenges with varying quality characteristics from different bag manufacturers, leading to high rejection rates and resource wastage. In collaboration with NEXE d.d., Haver & Boecker customized the bag scanner to meet the client's specific requirements.
The developed bag scanner scans each bag and identifies potential defects such as damage or incorrect filling. This data is stored and can be used to optimize the production process. NEXE d.d. expects this solution to significantly enhance production quality and efficiency.
