Haver & Boecker Expands AI Systems for Packaging Automation

OELDE, Germany – Haver & Boecker is expanding its QUAT2RO® AI system portfolio with the addition of QUAT2RO® BAGcheck and QUAT2RO® SEALcheck. These new systems aim to improve safety and automation for packaging and filling lines across industries such as cement, building materials, food, and chemicals.

The QUAT2RO® BAGcheck uses image recognition to verify that the correct type of bags are loaded into the bag magazine of a packaging machine. If the system detects an incorrect bag type, it stops the line before the filling process begins, preventing products from being filled into wrong packaging. The QUAT2RO® SEALcheck monitors bags after they leave the filling machine, identifying improperly sealed or damaged bags that are then automatically diverted from the line before palletizing.

These additions complement the existing QUAT2RO® MATEXcheck and QUAT2RO® VALVEcheck systems. VALVEcheck ensures proper placement of valve bags on filling spouts, while MATEXcheck monitors the filling process to quickly detect and stop material loss. According to Dirk Bergmann, Head of AI at Haver & Boecker, the success of the initial AI product, MATEXcheck, spurred the development of these additional customer-focused solutions.

All four QUAT2RO® AI systems can be interconnected via the QUAT2RO® Connect platform for comprehensive analysis and process optimization. The systems can be integrated as options in new machines or retrofitted onto existing fully automated packaging machines.
