HD+ to be integrated into Sony TVs

HD+ will integrate its service into all of Sony's 2021 Google TV models in the coming months. Already sold devices will receive the update automatically.

14 October 2026

HD+ is expanding its reach in the television market by integrating its service into all of Sony's 2021 Google TV models. The implementation will be completed in the coming months. For units sold in 2021, the HD+ integration will be delivered via an automatic online update.

Sony becomes the fourth major partner to offer HD+ "out of the box" on its new TV models. HD+ enhances the TV offering with brilliant HD and UHD quality images, along with the HD+ comfort function, enabling program restarts, access to media libraries, and notifications for UHD broadcasts. Georges Agnes, CEO of HD+, highlighted that HD+ is now integrated into over half of all UHD TVs sold in Germany, making it a significant selling point for manufacturers.

Thilo Röhrig, Commercial Director at Sony Germany, emphasized that the HD+ app complements Sony's extensive range of pre-installed applications and provides access to HD and UHD quality channels. This enhances the user experience and offers added value for retailers. Agnes added that the HD+ integration can foster customer loyalty and open up additional sales opportunities.

Customers can easily activate HD+ on new Sony TVs without the need for separate receivers or modules. The service includes a six-month free trial period featuring HD+ comfort functions.
