Heal Rewilding partners with Great Yellow for Biodiversity Net Gain sales
Heal Rewilding has appointed environmental finance consultancy Great Yellow to market Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) units from its Heal Somerset rewilding site. The partnership aims to support long-term nature recovery and direct investment into environmental projects.

National charity Heal Rewilding has appointed environmental finance consultancy Great Yellow to sell Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) units generated at its Heal Somerset rewilding site. The partnership is expected to bring more than 600 BNG units to market, with the first phase offering over 170 units. This collaboration unites two organizations focused on scaling long-term nature recovery and directing investment into high-integrity environmental projects.
Heal selected Great Yellow due to its strong alignment with the charity's mission and values. Great Yellow operates across landscape recovery, finance, and nature markets to transform investment flows into nature recovery projects, connecting initiatives with buyers seeking measurable environmental outcomes.
The UK's Biodiversity Net Gain legislation, introduced under the Environment Act, requires new developments over 0.2 hectares in England to deliver a minimum 10% measurable improvement in biodiversity. From July 31, 2026, new exemptions will apply, potentially increasing demand for high-quality habitat restoration projects capable of delivering lasting ecological gains.
Heal Somerset, a 186-hectare (460-acre) former intensive dairy farm acquired by Heal Rewilding in December 2022, is undergoing transformation through nature-led recovery approaches. The BNG units generated will help fund ongoing habitat restoration and long-term stewardship of the site, supporting Heal's wider mission to purchase land across England for rewilding and public access.
