Healome Therapeutics Closes £2 Million Seed Funding Round

Healome Therapeutics, a spin-out from the University of Birmingham, has secured £2 million in seed funding. The investment round was led by Empirical Ventures.

The company is developing a proprietary eye drop matrix technology designed for the treatment of diseases affecting the ocular surface. These funds are intended to accelerate the development and progression of this technology.

Healome's technology aims to provide a more effective way to deliver therapeutics to the eye, potentially improving outcomes for patients with conditions such as dry eye disease and corneal damage. Unlike conventional eye drops that can evaporate quickly, the matrix is designed for sustained release.

The newly acquired capital will be used to advance Healome's research and development efforts, including moving towards preclinical validation and potential human trials.

Empirical Ventures stated their belief in the technology's potential to significantly improve current treatment standards for ocular surface conditions.
