Health Net Offers Special Assistance to Members and Health Professionals Affected by Disasters
Health Net is providing temporary relief and additional resources to its members and healthcare providers following a series of disasters and infrastructure disruptions across California.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Health Net, one of California's most experienced Medi-Cal managed care plans, has initiated immediate measures to support its members and healthcare providers in the aftermath of several natural disasters and a significant wastewater spill. This action follows Governor Newsom's declaration of a statewide emergency, triggered by a series of weather events from September 2025 through February 2026. These include storms in September 2025 across Imperial and San Bernardino counties, atmospheric rivers in December 2025 impacting six Southern California counties, and storms in February 2026 affecting three Northern California counties. Additionally, the January 2026 Robin Lane wastewater spill and a statewide El Niño phenomenon are being addressed.
For members, Health Net is offering flexibility regarding prescription refills. If their usual pharmacy is open, they may pick up medications as normal. If the pharmacy is closed, Health Net will suspend refill restrictions, allowing members to obtain their prescription drugs from an out-of-network pharmacy. Furthermore, members unable to contact their primary care physician can utilize Health Net's telehealth services at no cost. 24/7 crisis support is also available through behavioral health services, along with guidance to community social services for needs such as housing and food.
For healthcare professionals, Health Net is extending grace periods for notifications related to acute and post-acute care, durable medical equipment, and home health services. Prior authorizations will be waived, though the notification requirement will remain. Health Net will also authorize out-of-network services, post-discharge notification for affected facilities, and accept updated clinical documentation for continuity of care reviews. Prescription refill restrictions will also be lifted for affected members.
Health Net is committed to providing ongoing support and will update its measures as the situation evolves. Further information and updates are available on HealthNet.com.
