Heated Rivalry generates $1 million in presales for theatrical run
Nearly a year after its streaming debut, the film Heated Rivalry has secured over $1 million in presales for a limited North American theatrical release across 900 locations.

Nearly one year following its initial streaming release, the film Heated Rivalry is seeing strong demand for a limited theatrical run. According to Regal Cinemas, the film has already generated over $1 million in presales in the U.S. and Canada, with showings scheduled in more than 900 theaters from November 6 through November 30.
This release highlights a shift in viewing habits, particularly among Gen Z, who are increasingly favoring shared, in-person experiences over isolated home streaming. Industry analysts suggest that this trend reflects a desire to bridge the social gaps created by digital-first consumption habits, turning individual fandom into a collective event.
Brooks LeBoeuf, Regal’s senior vice president of U.S. content, noted that there is no set expiration date for popular content. By recognizing the emotional intensity of the film's fanbase, the cinema chain aims to capitalize on the desire for community-driven celebrations of content that fans already consume individually.
This theatrical rollout serves as an indicator of how exhibitors are attempting to leverage existing audience sentiment to drive foot traffic, moving beyond the traditional reliance on new release windows.
