German Schlager star Helene Fischer and dancer Thomas Seitel's love story began unexpectedly during a tour in 2018. According to Seitel, he was not originally part of Fischer's concert series but was recommended as a replacement.

Seitel shared in an interview with Zeit magazine that the Atherton Twins were initially booked for Fischer's tour. When the twins couldn't participate, they recommended Seitel as their substitute, despite only knowing him through the internet. This chance opportunity led to Seitel working with Fischer and eventually to their personal relationship.

The dancer described a pivotal moment when Fischer spoke in his native dialect, "hessisch." When she said "Isch komm da her" (meaning "I come from here"), Seitel stated his "heart opened up." This realization cemented his desire to spend his life with Fischer.

Their relationship reportedly began shortly after Fischer's highly publicized separation from her long-time partner Florian Silbereisen in 2018. Fischer and Seitel have since started a family together.
