Hello Group acquires majority stake in Amsterdam-based dating app Inner Circle
China-based Hello Group has purchased a majority stake in Inner Circle to accelerate its expansion efforts across Europe and Latin America.

Hello Group, the parent company behind platforms such as Tantan and happn, has acquired a majority stake in the Amsterdam-founded dating app Inner Circle. The deal aims to bolster Hello Group’s international footprint, specifically targeting markets in Europe and Latin America.
Inner Circle will continue to operate under its existing brand and maintain its base in Amsterdam. According to Hello Group, the company plans to provide operational, technical, and product development support to scale the app internationally. Inner Circle currently reports a user base of nearly 9 million members.
This investment aligns with Hello Group’s strategic goal of achieving 451 million USD in overseas revenue by 2026. The move reflects a broader trend in the online dating industry, where companies are increasingly using acquisitions as a primary mechanism to secure market share and accelerate growth in competitive territories.
