Helsinki’s Tuomaan Markkinat, or Christmas Market, is set to open at the foot of the Helsinki Cathedral on November 27. The event, which concludes on December 22, will feature a wood-fired sauna this season, offering visitors an experience rooted in Finnish cultural heritage.

Operated by Furuvik Saunas, the sauna is intended to provide international visitors with an authentic taste of local hospitality. Owner Tea Lindberg stated that the inclusion of the sauna serves to welcome travelers into the warmth of the season, mirroring the centuries-old Finnish tradition of the 'joulusauna,' or Christmas sauna.

The market serves as a venue for local restaurateurs to showcase seasonal dishes, ranging from traditional porridge to contemporary culinary fusions. The market's emphasis on local vendors and authentic products remains a primary draw for the influx of winter tourists visiting the city, many of whom utilize Helsinki as a gateway to Northern Finland.

Alongside the market activities, the city center will offer additional seasonal infrastructure, including ice skating rinks, as part of the broader winter tourism strategy in the Finnish capital.
