Hempel launches new steel fire protection coating
Hempel has introduced Hempafire Optima 515, a new fire protection coating for steel structures. The product aims to reduce paint consumption and material-related environmental impact.
Hempel announced the launch of Hempafire Optima 515, a new coating for steel structures requiring fire protection.
The new product is designed to meet fire performance standards of up to 150 minutes according to BS 476 for steel. Hempel states that the coating requires a reduced dry film thickness, which leads to lower paint consumption while maintaining certified fire performance. "Our new technology helps our customers achieve the required fire resistance with a thinner paint application. This reduces material costs and improves operational efficiency," stated Hempel. The product is waterborne and has a very low content of volatile organic compounds (VOC), supporting projects aiming to minimize material use and its environmental footprint. Hempafire Optima 515 is intended for infrastructure projects and is backed by certifications and technical support from Hempel.
