Hero MotoCorp announces ₹1,000 Cr investment in Ather Energy, boosting stock to 52-week high

Ather Energy's shares surged over 9% to hit a 52-week high on Tuesday, reaching ₹1,313.65 on the BSE. The rally was triggered by Hero MotoCorp's announcement of an additional investment of up to ₹1,000 Cr (approximately $103 million) in the electric vehicle manufacturer.

The investment, approved by Hero MotoCorp's committee of directors, will be made through a preferential allotment of equity shares or other equity-linked securities. As of June 30, 2026, Hero MotoCorp held a 29.48% stake in Ather Energy. The final shareholding percentage will be determined by the pricing of the issue.

This capital infusion comes as Ather Energy faces intensifying competition in India's electric two-wheeler market and aims to bolster its finances. The company's board is scheduled to meet today to consider fundraising through various instruments, including equity shares and convertible bonds.

The funding initiative follows similar moves by competitors, with Ola Electric having raised ₹780.24 Cr in June. Ather Energy has recently reported narrowing losses and strong revenue growth, with its net loss decreasing by 57.2% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of FY26.
