Hero MotoCorp Increases Ather Energy Stake for ₹1,758 Crore

Hero MotoCorp has finalized its purchase of 1.18 crore equity shares in electric vehicle manufacturer Ather Energy for ₹1,758 crore (approximately $210 million). This transaction brings the auto giant's total stake in Ather Energy to about 32.8%, an increase from its previous holding of 29.48% as of June 2026.

The additional investment occurs as Ather Energy seeks to bolster its financial resources amid growing competition in India's electric two-wheeler market. The company had previously announced plans to raise up to ₹2,500 crore for expansion, research and development, and manufacturing capacity.

Ather Energy has reported strong sales volume growth for its electric scooters, along with increased revenue from high-margin, non-vehicle streams like software subscriptions and after-sales services. In the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, the company's operating revenue surged 89% year-over-year to ₹1,216.9 crore, while its net loss narrowed by 71%.
