Hexagon Energy Receives U.S. Department of Energy Award for Geothermal Exploration in Washington
Hexagon Energy has received an award from the U.S. Department of Energy to accelerate geothermal energy development in Washington's Wind River Valley. The funding will support exploratory drilling to assess the site's potential.

Charlottesville, Va. – Hexagon Energy, an energy development company, announced it has received an award from the U.S. Department of Energy. The funding is intended to accelerate the development of geothermal energy in Washington's Wind River Valley.
The award will support Hexagon's targeted exploratory drilling initiative, aiming to gather crucial subsurface data. This information will be used to evaluate and confirm the Wind River Valley's potential for both conventional hydrothermal and enhanced geothermal systems.
Washington State has set ambitious climate goals for 2030, while the Pacific Northwest is projected to face a significant electricity supply gap. Reliable, clean, and baseload power is seen as essential to meet these challenges.
Through this program, Hexagon Energy and other awardees will explore prospective regions across the U.S. The resulting data will be publicly shared via the Department of Energy's Geothermal Data Repository, benefiting the broader geothermal development sector.
