High Earners Trust Influencers More and Aspire to Their Careers

Americans with annual incomes exceeding $100,000 are more likely to trust social media influencers and make purchases based on their recommendations, a new survey indicates. Approximately 61% of high earners reported trusting influencer product recommendations, a figure significantly higher than the roughly half of those earning under $100,000 who expressed similar trust.

The research, conducted by Morning Consult for Business Insider in September with about 2,000 U.S. adults, also found that high-earning individuals were more likely to express aspirations of joining the influencer profession themselves. They also reported an increase in their trust towards influencers over the past few years.

While the precise reasons for this trend are not detailed, the survey's findings suggest that the lifestyle portrayed by influencers may resonate more strongly with those in higher income brackets. This increased trust and relatability could translate into greater influence on consumer purchasing decisions within this demographic.
