Highstar Launches Battery Cell Portfolio for AI Data Centers
Highstar has introduced a comprehensive battery cell portfolio designed for artificial intelligence data centers. The offering covers grey space UPS and HVDC systems, white space battery backup units, and grid-side energy storage.

Highstar, a Chinese manufacturer, unveiled its full-chain battery cell solution for artificial intelligence data centers (AIDCs) on July 26, 2026, at the GGII Energy Storage Industry Summit in Nantong, China. The portfolio addresses critical power layers within these facilities.
The new range includes solutions for grey spaces, such as 85Ah high-rate lithium iron phosphate cells for UPS and high-voltage DC (HVDC) systems, designed for rapid power delivery and frequent pulse conditions. Additionally, 50Ah sodium-ion battery cells are offered for white space applications, suitable for a wide temperature range of -40°C to 80°C.
For white space battery backup units (BBUs), Highstar provides tabless cylindrical cells in 18650 and 21700 formats, utilizing both LFP and high-nickel NMC chemistries. Energy storage for the grid side incorporates 314Ah lithium-ion and 160Ah sodium-ion cells, balancing duration, cycle life, and power support.
The company states that this integrated approach aims to reduce complexity for power equipment suppliers, system integrators, and data center operators. At the summit, Highstar was also recognized as a "Top Benchmark in AIDC Energy Storage."
