Hivelocity Launches Streaming Bundle for Video Platforms

Hivelocity, a provider of bare metal servers and cloud infrastructure, has launched its Streaming Bundle, a dedicated infrastructure solution tailored for video streaming platforms and media services. The offering addresses the challenges of rising infrastructure costs and unpredictability associated with growing audiences.

Bandwidth expenses have become a significant and difficult-to-predict cost for many streaming platforms. Unlike traditional cloud providers who often do not charge for inbound traffic, outbound video delivery is typically billed per gigabyte. This means costs escalate with increased viewership, higher bitrates, and longer watch times.

The Hivelocity Streaming Bundle combines single-tenant infrastructure with dedicated network resources and network-level DDoS protection. "Cloud egress pricing taxes streaming platforms for succeeding," said Ned Pope, Chief Product Officer at Hivelocity. "We built the Streaming Bundle around flat bandwidth commitments, so delivery is a cost a platform can plan for."

The bundle is structured into three tiers: Engineering Compute for pre-production workloads, Production Compute for business-critical applications like subscriber management and billing, and Delivery Compute optimized for bandwidth-intensive media with high-core processors, dense NVMe storage, and large bandwidth allocations.
