HKFoods Recognized for Nutritional Commitment Supporting Public Health

HKFoods has received recognition for its public health initiatives, with its nutritional commitment being honored as one of the most sustainable pledges for 2025. Minister of the Environment and Climate Sari Multala presented the award in Helsinki on May 20, 2026, during a seminar on the state and future of sustainable development organized by Finland's Committee for Sustainable Development and the Parliamentary Committee for the Future.

The award acknowledges HKFoods' four-part commitment, which targets widely used food products and institutional catering. The measures aim to support Finnish nutritional recommendations and prevent cardiovascular diseases without requiring consumers to make active choices.

Key actions within the commitment include reducing salt in HK-branded whole meat cold cuts, increasing products and recipes that meet the Heart Symbol criteria, and developing vegetarian dishes for institutional kitchens. The company states that its "Flavor Salt" innovation allows for a salt reduction of up to 25 percent without compromising taste, translating to over 70,000 kilograms less salt annually.

HKFoods emphasizes that the commitment is part of its sustainability program. The company aims to meet evolving consumer needs by offering healthier alternatives, such as Heart Symbol-certified products and plant-based options.
