HKGAI integrates Cantonese AI music generation into HKChat app
Hong Kong's research center for generative AI has added the YuE2 music model to its HKChat assistant, allowing users to generate Cantonese songs.
The Hong Kong Generative AI Research Center (HKGAI) has introduced a music generation feature to its local AI assistant, HKChat. Released on October 30, the update integrates the center's proprietary YuE2 music model into the existing platform.
Users can generate music by humming a melody, uploading an image, or providing descriptive prompts regarding their song ideas. The system then composes a full arrangement, including vocals. HKGAI has stated that the model is specifically designed to replicate the unique stylistic elements of Cantonese pop music.
The feature is currently available at no cost to all users within the HKChat application. The release signals an attempt by the organization to apply large-scale generative AI models to specific local cultural contexts.
