HKTDC Showcases Hong Kong Tech Pavilion at WAIC 2026

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) participated for the fourth consecutive year in the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai. The event featured 18 Hong Kong-based AI enterprises and institutions showcasing innovative solutions in intelligent robotics, smart city technologies, cybersecurity, and enterprise intelligence.

In collaboration with three major innovation and technology parks – Cyberport, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), and Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park Limited (HSITP) – HKTDC organized the Hong Kong Tech Pavilion. This platform aimed to demonstrate the capabilities of local companies and foster Hong Kong's position as an international hub for innovation and technology, acting as a bridge between China and global innovation resources.

On the first day of the conference, HKTDC hosted a seminar on "Fostering Economic Innovation and Global Collaboration through AI." Discussions focused on AI industrialization, its applications, governance, and financial empowerment. Prof Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the HKSAR Government, highlighted Hong Kong's objective to solidify its role as an international innovation and technology center and integrate AI into national strategies.

HKTDC's strategy involves enhancing the visibility of local startups and facilitating their expansion into mainland China and international markets. Participation in major global technology events like WAIC is a key component, promoting deeper exchanges and collaborations with international corporations, investors, and research institutions.
