HMD Global has launched the Nokia 123 Shield, a new 2G feature phone specifically designed for demanding outdoor environments. The company states the device is resistant to rain, splashes, sand, and dust, meeting the IP65 rating under the IEC 60529 standard.
The phone's design incorporates a non-slip texture on the sides and rubber seals around its ports to enhance its durability against environmental factors. HMD Global has positioned the handset as suitable for outdoor workers.
Additionally, HMD Global claims that the Nokia 123 Shield offers improved call quality. The phone is engineered for better signal reception, promising more stable connections and clearer conversations compared to conventional 2G feature phones.
Hardware specifications include a Unisoc SC6531E processor, a 2.4-inch QVGA display, and a 1750 mAh removable battery, which the company estimates can provide up to 19 days of standby time. The device also features a QVGA camera, a brighter LED flash that can serve as a flashlight, and an FM radio.
