HMD Skyline 2 Smartphone Confirmed for Release
Reports indicate HMD's anticipated Skyline 2 smartphone is still slated for release, despite earlier confusion about its cancellation. The updated model will feature a new processor.

HMD's anticipated Skyline 2 smartphone is confirmed to be heading for release, dispelling earlier rumors of its cancellation. Sources clarify that while a potential GT variant has been scrapped, the standard model remains on track.
The latest engineering unit specifications reveal the phone will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, an upgrade from the previously suggested Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. Other hardware specifications are expected to remain consistent with earlier leaks. The rear camera module design is also reported to be unchanged from the predecessor.
The device is expected to feature a 6.55-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 1200 nits peak brightness, paired with a 50MP front-facing camera. Connectivity options include a USB-C 3.2 port. The rear camera system will comprise a 108MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens, and a 50MP ultrawide lens, arranged in the same module design as the original Skyline, located in the upper left corner.
Internal hardware includes 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The smartphone will house a 5000mAh battery supporting 40W wired charging and 15W Qi2 wireless charging. It will also boast IP54 dust and water resistance and a second-generation easy-repair design.
For context, HMD launched the original Skyline phone in July 2023, emphasizing repairability with a design allowing users to replace screens or batteries within minutes using standard tools.
