HMS Networks Clarifies Differences Between Flexy 10X and 20X Routers
HMS Networks has detailed the functional distinctions between its Flexy 10X and 20X industrial router series. The primary difference lies in the routing capabilities.
HMS Networks has clarified the operational differences between its Flexy 10X and 20X series of industrial communication devices. The key distinction impacts how remote devices can be accessed.
The Flexy 10X series lacks routing capabilities, meaning users cannot establish VPN connections to access local area network (LAN) devices, such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), connected to the router. This limitation prevents direct remote access to these secondary devices.
Despite this, the Flexy 10X can still connect to cloud platforms like Talk2M or other OpenVPN servers. Through these VPN tunnels, users can access the Flexy's own web interface, including its ViewIO page. Data transmission to servers, such as historical data logging, remains possible.
The Flexy 20X series, conversely, supports full routing functionality. This allows for the establishment of VPN connections to reach not only the router itself but also any serial or Ethernet devices situated behind it on the local network. This capability is crucial for comprehensive remote monitoring and management of industrial equipment.
