HMS Networks Clarifies TCP/UDP Ports Used by PROFINET
HMS Networks has detailed the specific TCP and UDP ports required for PROFINET communication, aiming to prevent network disruptions for industrial automation users.
HMS Networks, a global expert in embedded network solutions, has provided specific details on the TCP and UDP ports utilized by the PROFINET industrial communication protocol. This information is critical for ensuring seamless data exchange in industrial automation environments.
The company outlined that specific UDP ports are reserved for PROFINET RT unicast (34962), multicast (34963), and RPC Context Manager (34964). Additionally, UDP port 53247 is used for PROFINET RPC client/server communication.
Cyclic I/O process data exchange occurs directly at the Ethernet layer using Ethertype 0x8892. Furthermore, Ethertype 0x88E3 is employed for Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP) functionalities.
HMS Networks emphasizes that it is crucial for users to ensure these ports are not blocked by firewalls or packet filtering software. This proactive measure helps maintain network integrity and prevent communication failures, especially when implementing PC-based PROFINET solutions.
