HMS Networks Disables Ewon Flexy FTP Server by Default

HMS Networks has implemented a change affecting the default configuration of its Ewon Flexy devices, starting with firmware version 15.0. The device's FTP server is now disabled by default. This modification is intended to ensure compliance with the Radio Equipment Directive.

While the FTP server is disabled by default, it remains a critical component for backup and restore operations when using the eBuddy software. Users who need to perform these functions with eBuddy must re-enable the FTP server on the device. Additionally, they must ensure their eBuddy software is updated to version 12.5.0 or higher.

For firmware upgrades that do not utilize eBuddy, users must manually transfer the secure firmware image (_EDFS). This can be achieved either by using a third-party FTP client or by loading the firmware onto an SD card. The necessary firmware files are available on the HMS Networks website in the firmware section for the specific device.

To re-enable the FTP server on an Ewon Flexy device, the COM parameter "CloseDevice" must be set to 0. This configuration adjustment can be performed through the "Tabular edition" feature, accessible via the path: Setup > System > Storage > Tabular edition > Edit COM cfg.
