HMS Networks has published a detailed guide on how to enable debug logs for its Ewon devices, specifically designed to aid in the troubleshooting of cellular connections. This initiative aims to provide users with more granular data to diagnose and resolve connectivity issues effectively.

The guide outlines distinct procedures for Ewon Flexy and Cosy models. For Cosy131/Flexy devices, which utilize AT commands and PPP protocols for cellular connectivity, users must access the device's settings. Within "Setup > System > Main > Debug," both "Debug PPP Port" and "Debug AT Port" should be set to "HEX and ASCII on RX/TX." Additionally, for PPP logs, specific settings under "Setup > System > Main > PPP Dump," such as enabling "Log Incoming call" and "Log outgoing call" and setting a log size, are required.

For the Cosy+ model, which employs the ModemManager component and QMI protocol, enabling debug logs is divided into two categories. The first covers communication between the firmware and ModemManager and is activated by setting the system parameter "ModemManagerZeroMQLog" to 262137. The second category focuses on logs between ModemManager and the modem chip (QMI logs), activated by setting the "ModemLoglevel2" parameter to "debug."

Collected log data is crucial for diagnosing connection problems. AT and PPP logs are included within Ewon backup files if the "include support files" option is selected. QMI logs, however, are not part of the backup files and must be downloaded separately via the device's IP address. Access to these detailed logs enables the HMS Networks support team to more efficiently identify and resolve issues related to cellular connectivity for their customers.
