Holcim to Acquire Fermacell for EUR 840 Million to Expand Building Solutions

Holcim announced an agreement to acquire Fermacell, a German-based provider of sustainable walling and flooring solutions, for EUR 840 million. The transaction aims to bolster Holcim's high-value Building Solutions business.

Fermacell, with projected 2026 net sales of approximately EUR 430 million, employs over 1,000 people across 13 European markets and operates six production sites. The company is known for its fibre gypsum and cement-bonded boards, including brands like fermacell® and Aestuver®.

According to Holcim, the acquisition will broaden its European offering in walling, flooring, and fire protection. The acquired brands are expected to complement Holcim's existing portfolio, which includes Ytong, Silka, Hebel, and Multipor. The move also aims to strengthen Holcim's integrated building systems and modular construction capabilities.

Holcim anticipates achieving run-rate EBITDA synergies of around EUR 22 million within three years post-acquisition. The company expects the transaction to be earnings per share accretive in its first year. The deal is subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals, with completion anticipated in the first half of 2027.
