Holmen completes acquisition of Martinsons, strengthening wood products business

Holmen has officially completed its acquisition of Martinsons, with the change of ownership taking effect on October 1st. The integration brings Martinsons' sawmill in Bygdsiljum under the Holmen Group umbrella, positioning it as one of the group's largest facilities.

The transition was marked by a key handover ceremony. Johan Padel, Holmen's Senior Vice President for Wood Products, stated that the company intends to build upon Martinsons' existing strengths, including specialized know-how, quality focus, and innovation. He indicated that this acquisition significantly enhances Holmen's expertise in wood products and wood construction.

Lars Martinson, former CEO of Martinsons, welcomed Holmen as the stable, long-term owner sought by the company. He cited a shared culture and a mutual desire for development as key factors that will enable further advancement in the value chain and contribute to the sustainable future of the wood industry.

The deal also secures access to raw materials, an area where both companies have established long-standing relationships with forest owners. Holmen, a major wood buyer in Sweden, emphasized its commitment to providing a secure purchasing process. The company believes Martinsons' specialization in wood construction will offer added value to forest owners looking for advanced processing of their timber.
