Holmen Invests SEK 200 Million in Hallsta Paper Mill
Holmen Paper is investing SEK 200 million to restructure the energy supply at Hallsta Paper Mill. This is the largest investment at the mill since the PM 11 paper machine was built in 2002.

Holmen Paper announced on Thursday, February 7, 2013, an investment of SEK 200 million (approximately EUR 23 million) to restructure the energy supply at its Hallsta Paper Mill. The company stated this is the single largest investment at the mill since 2002, when the PM 11 paper machine was constructed.
The planned measures are intended to enhance the mill's competitiveness and support its transition to operating with two paper machines. Holmen indicated that the investment will improve heat recovery from paper machines and pulp production, leading to more energy-efficient operations.
The restructuring also includes decommissioning two old solid fuel boilers. This will be possible following the previously announced closure of the PM 3 paper machine in the latter half of 2013. The investment package also encompasses more modern and efficient process monitoring systems.
The full investment is expected to be completed by the summer of 2014. Holmen stated that the Hallsta mill will then operate as a modern facility with two paper machines focused on magazine and book paper production. Additionally, the mill is projected to become a significant supplier of biofuel due to a surplus of bark that was previously burned in the solid fuel boilers.
