Holmen Mill Manager Describes Work at Braviken Paper Mill

Ulf Danielsson, Mill Manager at Holmen's Braviken Paper Mill, offers an insight into his professional life and the ongoing development at the facility. Danielsson, who started at Braviken in 2002, has witnessed the mill's significant transformation from primarily producing newsprint to focusing on a more diverse range of sustainable products derived from forest residues.

"We are making major efforts and investments to further strengthen our market position and continue our mission to develop and produce sustainable products based on forest residues," Danielsson stated. He attributes the mill's success to a belief in the company, trust, and capital investments that facilitate continuous organizational growth.

Danielsson's typical workday often begins with a commute, during which he plans his schedule. His duties include management team meetings, discussions on health and safety, and collaborative sessions at Holmen Paper's head office in Norrköping focusing on projects and market strategies.

He highlights the importance of the workforce and the opportunities for career progression within Holmen. "I have had the opportunity to progress due to others encouraging me and leading me into new roles. This is a strength at Holmen that I want to highlight: we look out for each other and always strive to develop the people within the organization," Danielsson commented. He also mentioned being nicknamed "Greaser Boss" early in his career.

Over the years, Braviken Paper Mill has undergone substantial changes. While newsprint was the main focus when Danielsson joined, the mill has since expanded its product catalog and is increasingly prioritizing sustainable solutions within the forest industry.
