Holmen Reports Lower Operating Profit for Jan-Sep 2025
Holmen's operating profit decreased to 2,531 million SEK for January-September 2025, down from 3,005 million SEK in the same period last year. The decline is attributed to major maintenance shutdowns and lower electricity prices.

Forest industry group Holmen reported a decrease in operating profit to 2,531 million SEK for the period January-September 2025, compared to 3,005 million SEK in the corresponding period of 2024. The operating margin fell to 15 percent from 17 percent.
The company stated that the profit reduction was due to two significant maintenance shutdowns at its paper and board mills, alongside lower electricity prices in northern Sweden. Third-quarter operating profit also saw a decline of 70 million SEK from the previous quarter, reaching 737 million SEK, influenced by reduced sales prices in the sawn timber business.
Net profit for the nine-month period amounted to 2,298 million SEK, marginally lower than the 2,304 million SEK reported last year. Earnings per share were 14.7 SEK (14.5 SEK). In the third quarter, net profit was positively impacted by 395 million SEK following a ruling by the Administrative Court in Stockholm granting Holmen tax deductions related to its former operations in Spain.
During the reporting period, Holmen repurchased its own shares for 1,298 million SEK, representing 2.0 percent of the total number of shares. The reported value of the group's forest assets stood at 58,731 million SEK at the end of the period.
Holmen AB published its interim report on October 23, 2025. The company operates in the forest products industry, processing wood into paper, board, and timber.
