Holmen splits forestry division into two units
Holmen is dividing its forestry business area into two separate units to distinguish between asset management and industrial timber supply.

Swedish forest industry group Holmen has announced a restructuring of its forestry division, splitting it into two distinct business areas. The move is designed to separate the management of the company's forest land from the logistics of timber supply to its industrial operations.
Under the new structure, one unit will focus exclusively on the valuation and long-term growth of Holmen's forest holdings. The second unit will be responsible for sourcing and delivering timber to the group’s mills, with a primary objective of optimizing supply chains and controlling costs.
Holmen CEO Henrik Sjölund stated that the separation provides clearer accountability for each segment. He noted that moving timber supply closer to the industrial operations while allowing the forest unit to focus on asset value will improve organizational efficiency.
Sören Petersson will lead the forest assets division, while Fredrik Holgersson will head the timber supply unit. Both executives will join the group's executive management team. The restructuring process begins immediately and is scheduled for full completion by the third quarter of 2027. The company confirmed that no staff reductions are planned as part of this transition.
