Holmen to split forest business into two distinct operations
Holmen is restructuring its forestry division into two units to separate timber procurement from land management. The transition is scheduled to conclude by the third quarter of 2027.

Holmen has announced plans to divide its forest business area into two separate entities. The restructuring aims to clarify governance by separating the supply of raw timber for industrial operations from the management and long-term development of the company’s forest holdings.
CEO Henrik Sjölund stated that the move is intended to provide clearer profit responsibility and operational focus. By aligning timber procurement more closely with industrial production, the company seeks to enhance supply reliability and cost efficiency. Simultaneously, the forestry unit will concentrate on maximizing the biological growth and value of its land assets.
Leadership appointments for the new units have been set, with Sören Petersson taking charge of forest land and Fredrik Holgersson leading timber supply. Both executives will report to the group management team.
The organizational change is effective immediately, with full implementation expected by the third quarter of 2027. The company confirmed that the split will not result in any planned staff redundancies.
