Holmen's First Quarter Profit Decreases, Renewable Energy Drives Results
Holmen reported an operating profit of SEK 827 million for the first quarter of 2026, down from SEK 988 million in the same period last year, while renewable energy business saw significant gains.

Holmen AB announced its first-quarter results for 2026, reporting an operating profit of SEK 827 million. This represents a decrease compared to SEK 988 million recorded in the first quarter of 2025. The company's EBITDA for the period was SEK 1,177 million, down from SEK 1,348 million year-on-year.
The decline in profit was attributed to reduced earnings from Holmen's forest industry segments. However, the company highlighted a significant increase in profit from its hydro and wind power assets, which partially offset the overall downturn. Despite challenges in the paper and board divisions, the renewable energy segment showed robust performance.
Holmen's net sales increased to SEK 5,473 million in the first quarter, up from SEK 5,183 million in the corresponding period of 2025. Profit after tax amounted to SEK 618 million, resulting in earnings per share of SEK 4.0, compared to SEK 4.8 in the prior year.
The company confirmed that the Annual General Meeting approved a dividend of SEK 9.5 per share, totaling SEK 1,458 million, which was distributed in April. Net financial debt decreased to SEK 4,186 million, with a debt-to-equity ratio of 8 percent.
