Holmen's Nine-Month Profit Decreased
Forest industry company Holmen reported a nine-month operating profit of SEK 2.53 billion for January-September 2025. The decline was attributed to maintenance shutdowns and lower electricity prices.

Holmen, a forest industry company, announced that its operating profit for the first nine months of 2025 amounted to SEK 2.53 billion, down from SEK 3.01 billion in the same period of 2024. The operating margin was 15 percent, compared to 17 percent.
The decrease in earnings was primarily due to two major maintenance shutdowns in the company's Board and Paper divisions, as well as lower electricity prices in northern Sweden. The report for the third quarter showed a sequential drop in operating profit by SEK 70 million to SEK 737 million, attributed to reduced selling prices in the Wood Products segment.
Profit after tax for the January-September period was SEK 2.30 billion, largely unchanged from the previous year's SEK 2.30 billion. However, Holmen received a positive impact of SEK 395 million in the third quarter related to tax deductions for its former operations in Spain, following a ruling by the Administrative Court in Stockholm.
During the nine-month period, Holmen repurchased its own shares for SEK 1.3 billion, representing 2.0 percent of the total share capital. The company's net financial debt increased to SEK 5.50 billion from SEK 3.40 billion at the end of 2024.
