Honda and Mitsubishi partner to produce pickup trucks for Southeast Asian market
Honda has signed a memorandum of understanding with Mitsubishi to enter the Southeast Asian pickup truck market. The collaboration will yield a vehicle based on the Mitsubishi Triton, slated for 2028.

Honda and Mitsubishi have announced their first collaborative vehicle supply agreement, focusing on the production of pickup trucks for Southeast Asia. The initiative will see Honda utilize the existing architecture of the Mitsubishi Triton, a ladder-frame chassis vehicle that currently serves as a core global model for Mitsubishi.
For Honda, this agreement serves as a strategic entry point into a regional segment where it currently lacks a presence. By leveraging the existing platform, the company aims to bypass the lengthy development timeline required for a new vehicle, while simultaneously boosting production efficiency.
Manufacturing for the new model will be centralized at Mitsubishi's Thailand production facility. The project is expected to increase utilization rates at the plant. The companies have set a target launch date of 2028 for the joint vehicle.
