Honda recalls 37 CB1000R motorcycles due to engine defect

Honda Motorbike Sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. is initiating a recall for 37 units of its imported CB1000R model motorcycles. The affected vehicles were manufactured between April 16, 2025, and July 4, 2025.

The recall stems from a design issue with the pistons and piston rings. This flaw can cause engine oil to be drawn into the combustion chamber when the engine operates at high speeds or during frequent engine braking. This phenomenon accelerates oil consumption.

In severe scenarios, the defect could result in engine damage, locking of the rear wheel leading to a crash, or even a fire hazard. Chinese regulatory authorities have identified this as a significant safety concern.

Honda will offer a free remedy to owners of the affected motorcycles. The company will replace the faulty pistons and piston rings with improved versions to mitigate the identified safety risks.
