Hong Kong Regulator Suspends ChaPanda Shares Over Suspected IPO Manipulation
Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has suspended trading in Chinese tea chain ChaPanda's shares due to concerns about potential manipulation of its initial public offering (IPO). The investigation targets two groups suspected of creating artificial investor demand.

Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) ordered a suspension of trading in the shares of Chinese tea chain ChaPanda, effective October 13. The regulator cited serious concerns that the company's initial public offering (IPO) may have been artificially manipulated. The SFC is investigating two groups suspected of orchestrating IPO fraud schemes that created a false impression of investor demand.
The regulator has restricted dealings in assets valued at up to HKD 4.38 billion (approximately USD 560 million). These assets are linked to one of the groups, which is suspected of involvement in the IPOs of both ChaPanda and Cloudbreak Pharma.
ChaPanda, listed under its corporate name Sichuan Baicha Baidao Industrial, went public in Hong Kong in April 2024. The SFC stated that the investigation is ongoing and that the suspension aims to protect investors and maintain an orderly and fair market.
