Hong Kong's TVB Rebrands as Wireless Group to Expand Media Operations
Hong Kong broadcaster TVB has officially changed its name to Wireless Group, marking a strategic shift from a traditional television station to a cross-media entertainment conglomerate embracing new technologies and markets.

Hong Kong-based broadcaster TVB announced on July 24 that it has officially changed its name to Wireless Group (็ก็ท้ๅ). This rebranding signifies the company's evolution from a traditional television provider to a diversified cross-media entertainment group.
The company's official Chinese name has been updated from "Television Broadcasts Limited" (้ป่ฆๅปฃๆญๆ้ๅ ฌๅธ) to "Wireless Group Limited" (็ก็ท้ๅๆ้ๅ ฌๅธ), and its English name from "Television Broadcasts Limited" to "TVB Limited." This change reflects the company's growth and transformation over its nearly six decades since its establishment in 1965, moving beyond its origins as a singular broadcasting entity.
Patrick Tsui, Chairman of Wireless Group, stated that the name change is part of a comprehensive reform and represents the company's ambition to be more than just a TV station. The group aims to become a cross-media entertainment enterprise by opening up content creation, diversifying its business, expanding its reach into the Greater Bay Area, and actively adopting mobile internet and AI technologies. Tsui emphasized that "Wireless" is a brand that belongs to Hong Kong and connects the Greater Bay Area with the global Chinese community.
The company indicated that the new name better reflects its current business identity, market positioning, and future development direction. Wireless Group plans to leverage popular content to create commercially viable intellectual property (IP) extending into licensed merchandise, immersive experiences, and cultural tourism. This strategic pivot is designed to adapt to a dynamic market environment and capitalize on new technological advancements, including artificial intelligence.
