Honka Builds Alpine-Style Lodge in Switzerland
Honkarakenne Oyj has completed a 270m² log building in the Swiss Alps. The property combines traditional alpine style with modern features and uses passive heating solutions.

Finnish log house manufacturer Honkarakenne Oyj has delivered a 270m² log building located in Haute Nendaz, Switzerland. Completed in 2008, the three-story structure combines traditional Alpine architectural style with modern design elements, situated in a scenic mountain environment.
The chalet utilizes non-settling Honka Fusion logs for its construction. The three-level layout is adapted to the partially hillside plot and includes an open-plan kitchen, living area, four bedrooms, and a sauna space. The building's design emphasizes integration with the natural landscape.
The structure incorporates passive heating strategies. Large window surfaces and the thermal mass properties of wood allow the building to harness solar energy for heating, supplemented by a geothermal system. This approach aims to reduce energy consumption and enhance comfort.
The project was designed by architect Jean-Michel Martignoni and serves as a holiday lodge. It is positioned to offer guests opportunities for relaxation and outdoor activities such as skiing and hiking.
