Honor confirms August launch for robot phone with built-in camera gimbal

Honor has confirmed that its new smartphone, equipped with a four-degree-of-freedom (4DoF) mechanical gimbal for its camera, will launch in August. This feature allows the camera module to move independently from the phone's body, offering new possibilities for photography and videography.

The gimbal unit is constructed from a titanium alloy and utilizes miniature motors. According to the company, its volume is 70% smaller than that of mainstream solutions, indicating a design focused on compactness.

Under the hood, the device will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile platform. It will also introduce the core of Honor's AgenticOS, a multimodal agent operating system. The company has begun taking reservations for the upcoming device.
