Honor Executive Addresses Magic9 Phone Stock Shortages
Honor Global CMO Guan Haitao explained stock shortages for the Magic9 series, citing supply issues. Activation numbers for the new models have significantly exceeded expectations post-launch.
Guan Haitao, Honor's Global Chief Marketing Officer, has addressed the reasons behind the stock shortages for the company's new Magic9 smartphone series. Speaking on October 1st, he stated that activation numbers for the M9 (Magic9) series, three days after its release, were over 70% higher than the previous generation, contributing to supply constraints.
Responding to online speculation that the company underestimated demand, Guan Haitao offered a humorous explanation. When a user questioned the lack of pre-prepared stock, he replied, "Poverty limits our imagination." This remark alluded to the unexpectedly high consumer interest that surpassed the company's initial production forecasts.
Honor had previously announced that the Magic9 series achieved a 208% increase in sales across all platforms within the first hour of its launch compared to its predecessor. Guan Haitao also confirmed that the M9 (Magic9) series maintained its lead in activation numbers among Android flagship devices on its fifth day.
The Honor Magic9 series was officially launched on September 28th, featuring models such as the Honor Magic9 Pro Max, Honor Magic9, and Honor Magic9 Super Edition. Prices for the series start at 4499 yuan (approximately $620 USD).
