Honor integrates directional microphone system into Magic9 Pro Max

Honor has disclosed that the camera module aperture on the Magic9 Pro Max houses a proprietary directional microphone array for enhanced video audio recording.

2 November 2026

Honor has officially confirmed that the small aperture located in the upper corner of the Magic9 Pro Max camera housing serves as a core component of its proprietary directional microphone system. This hardware integration allows the device to capture audio with increased precision, drawing design inspiration from professional production-grade shotgun microphones.

The system utilizes a hybrid array, combining a high-directivity microphone with additional omnidirectional sensors to achieve specific sound-capture modes. Users can toggle settings for macro, long-distance, or vocal-focused recording directly within the camera interface. The company also allows for post-processing audio adjustments via its native editing suite, enabling users to re-optimize sound fields after recording.

This development follows a period of strong market performance for the Honor Magic9 series. Recent industry data indicated that the series attained the highest activation volume among Android flagship devices globally during its launch window in October.
