Honor Magic9 Series Phones Support Infrared Function
Honor's Magic9 series phones now feature infrared capability across all models. The Pro Max variant includes a unique '360° Infrared Remote Control Enhanced' technology for broader control.
Honor has confirmed that all models in its new Magic9 smartphone series will support infrared functionality, allowing users to control home appliances. The Magic9 Pro Max model specifically incorporates the company's proprietary '360° Infrared Remote Control Enhanced' technology, enabling control of devices without requiring direct alignment.
For the standard Magic9 and Magic9 Super Edition, the infrared transmitter has been integrated into the camera module. This deviates from previous designs where the emitter was located at the top of the phone, necessitating the user to point the device directly at the target appliance. The new placement aims to facilitate easier and more discreet operation.
The Honor Magic9 series was launched in late September, featuring the Magic9 Pro Max, Magic9, and Magic9 Super Edition models, with prices starting at 4499 yuan. The series has seen a strong market reception, with activations in the first three days post-launch reportedly increasing by over 70% compared to the previous generation.
The underlying principle of infrared remote control involves an emitter sending signals to a receiver on the appliance. Due to power limitations in smartphones, the range and accuracy of these signals are often less than those of traditional remotes. Honor's new approach seeks to enhance the user experience in this regard.
