Hormel Foods Agrees to Acquire Value-Added Chicken Producer Brakebush for $1.055 Billion
Hormel Foods Corporation has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Brakebush Brothers, a leading value-added chicken company, for approximately $1.055 billion. The deal is expected to bolster Hormel's protein and foodservice businesses.

Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE: HRL) announced on September 30, 2026, that it has signed an agreement to purchase Brakebush Brothers, LLC, a significant player in value-added chicken products. The transaction is valued at approximately $1.055 billion.
The acquisition aligns with Hormel Foods' strategy to invest in growing protein categories. It is expected to substantially expand the company's footprint in value-added chicken and enhance its foodservice operations by improving operator relationships, increasing category expertise, and broadening its direct sales force.
Founded in 1925 and headquartered in Westfield, Wisconsin, Brakebush is a key provider of non-vertically integrated, value-added chicken. The company serves a diverse range of foodservice customers. Brakebush reported approximately $1.2 billion in net sales over the past 12 months and operates five production facilities and two R&D labs.
Hormel Foods anticipates that the acquisition will drive growth, unlock operational efficiencies, and improve cash flow. Brakebush's operations are expected to be primarily reported within Hormel's Foodservice segment. The company expects the acquisition to be accretive to adjusted earnings per share beginning in fiscal year 2028.
