Hot Air Balloon Lands in Dresden Residential Area, Gets Stuck in Tree
A hot air balloon made an emergency landing in a residential area of Dresden's Blasewitz district on Monday evening. No injuries were reported, but the balloon's envelope became entangled in tree branches.
On Monday evening, around 6:45 PM, a hot air balloon landed in a residential area of Dresden's Blasewitz district, near the Elbe meadows. According to witnesses, the balloon touched down on Jüngststraße. No injuries were reported from the incident.
Numerous local residents observed the recovery of the balloon from the street. One local business owner told MDR SACHSEN that customers suddenly ran out or cycled to the balloon, later showing him their mobile phone pictures of the event.
While the basket came to rest safely on the roadway, the balloon's envelope became caught in the branches of a tree, a reporter on the scene stated. The crew appeared capable of resolving the situation themselves. Police were not informed and were not involved in the operation.
The reason for the landing remains unclear. The media company MDR Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk reported on the incident.
