House Republicans secure narrow fundraising lead ahead of midterms

With the midterm elections two weeks away, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has established a razor-thin financial lead over the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). The NRCC has raised 250 million dollars during this cycle, compared to 249 million dollars raised by the DCCC.

This development represents a shift from previous cycles in which Democrats significantly outperformed Republicans in fundraising. During the third quarter of 2026, the NRCC raised 50 million dollars and entered October with 61 million dollars in cash on hand. The DCCC reported 50.5 million dollars in third-quarter fundraising and 55.7 million dollars in available cash.

NRCC Chair Richard Hudson noted that the committee prioritized building a reserve to support Republican candidates throughout the cycle. Additionally, Speaker Mike Johnson has contributed to the effort, raising over 220 million dollars since October 2023, a performance that analysts suggest has helped stabilize the party's fundraising operations following concerns about a leadership transition.

Despite the recent fundraising success, both parties continue to face significant political headwinds as they enter the final stages of the campaign period.
