Hovmand Lift Improves Work Environment at Danish Care Home
A Danish care home has invested in a Hovmand lift to alleviate back pain among staff. The new device simplifies the transport of food items in the kitchen.

A care home in Jutland, Denmark, has implemented a lifting device from Hovmand A/S to enhance its employees' working conditions. The introduction of the lifter has significantly reduced the physical strain experienced by kitchen staff, who previously struggled with lifting and carrying food and beverages.
Staff members frequently suffered from back pain and other musculoskeletal issues, particularly during delivery days that occurred three times weekly. They were tasked with lifting and moving up to 3,300 kilograms of various goods, including juice cartons, sacks of potatoes, and bread crates, often in awkward positions. The issue was also noted by the municipality's physiotherapists, who identified the need for a solution to prevent wear and tear.
The municipality, which made the investment decision, sought an easy-to-use and effective solution that did not require extensive training. Hovmand's "Impact 70" model was identified as the most suitable due to its compact size and straightforward operation. Staff can now place items onto the lifting platform and transport them to storage without strenuous lifting.
The lifter has made the workday more comfortable, and employees have expressed high satisfaction. The device has become so popular that there is competition among staff members to use it. The care home is already considering new applications for the lifter, such as transporting hot pots.
According to the municipality, investing in employee well-being is also a strategic move in a time of personnel shortages. It demonstrates a commitment to improving the work environment and utilizing technology, which can increase the workplace's attractiveness and facilitate the recruitment of new staff.
