Hovmand Supplies Lifting Aids to Karamel Kompagniet
Danish confectioner Karamel Kompagniet improves production efficiency and employee working conditions with lifting aids from Hovmand A/S.

Hovmand A/S has delivered two different lifting aids to Danish confectioner Karamel Kompagniet to enhance production process efficiency and reduce physical strain on employees. Located on Bornholm, Karamel Kompagniet produces handmade gourmet caramels and has experienced steady growth since its founding in 2004.
The traditional caramel production process, which yields thousands of candies daily, historically involved heavy lifting and manipulation of ingredients and the finished mass. Tasks such as handling pots weighing approximately 70 kg of hot caramel mass, tilting them to pour onto cooling tables, and moving heavy caramel blocks to cutting rollers required significant physical effort, often from two employees.
Anna Knightbridge, owner of Karamel Kompagniet, stated that the heavy lifting activities strain employees' backs and muscles. "Caramel production is demanding work involving heavy lifting, which can cause long-term damage to backs and muscles," Knightbridge explained. Consequently, the company invested in two mobile lifting aids from Hovmand to alleviate this physical burden.
One of the delivered aids features a special mixing kettle that handles approximately 60 kg of cooked caramel mass daily. This lifting device allows for effortless transfer and tilting of the pot to pour the caramel onto the cooling table. The second aid, a flexible system nicknamed "Kreisel," is designed to move the caramel blocks to the cutting rollers. Previously a two-person task, this operation can now be completed by a single employee without strain.
Knightbridge noted that the lifting aids have significantly improved the working environment and increased production output. The company is considering acquiring additional lifting equipment to meet increasing product demand.
